H&M x Brick Lane Bikes
My bike's waiting for spring repair right now, but here's something I'll surely take a look at once it launches in March 2013. Functional apparel designed for cycling, but styled to also be worn off the road is not really a new thing (e.g. check out Rapha.cc), but this is probably the first time such concept is distributed this widely.
More info about the collection available through H&M press release.

The Best Pizza in Berlin: Il Due Forni
Our airbnb host in Berlin recommended Il Due Forni restaurant in Prenzlauer Berg. Lunch at this punk-rock influenced pizza restaurant was a brilliant experience - especially compared to the tourist madness experienced right next door at White Trash Fast Food on the previous night.
Both pizzas we tried were really well made with just the right amount of fresh ingredients. I could recommend this place any time and I'll surely visit it many times in the future.
You can find Il Due Forni at Schönhauser Allee 12, 10119, Berlin.

das ist so berlin
Checking in at Berlin once again. This time we're borrowing this great apartment from a local dude in a Supreme cap, who promptly showed us around the place, recommended us some good restaurants and took the next train to Poland for the weekend. :D Airbnb beating the average hotel once again.

Five Picks for Flow Festival Saturday
It's Flow Festival time again. Here's my five picks to see on Saturday 11.8.2012 in chronological order:
#1 Lidström - 1900 Black Tent
Interesting Norwegian sound. Not sure if it's gonna be disco, italo, techno or what but it'll be good.
#2 Saint Etienne - 2100 Main Stage
Originally found them from Babyshambles - Back to the Bus compilation (the favorite tracks of UK rock band Babyshambles) and especially their song Only Love Can Break Your Heart has grown into being one of my all time favorites too.
#3 Nicolas Jaar - 2130 Nokia Blue Tent
This American-Chilean Mamba-Master is someone I've wanted to see live for a long time. Versatile producer - just check out his soundcloud.
#4 Richie Hawtin - 2315 Nokia Blue Tent
Saw this British Detroit techno legend play live as Plastikman a while ago in Berlin. That was crazy and this will be crazy too.
#5 Lauri Soini - 0100 Nokia Lounge
Lauri knows techno. Enough said.
Don't forget to have fun.
Don't forget to go home.

Géométrick Paris
Géométrick is a new interesting cycling collective and a t-shirt brand from Paris. Their latest collection features premium t-shirts with hand made pockets made out of vintage Hermés and Channel scarves. Pocket tees have been around for a while, but I think that the vintage designer patterns bring a really interesting twist to such a simple product.
In Géométrick crew's projects everyone focuses on what they do best which is an approach I also support 100%.
Géométrick is available at Colette, Geometrick Online Store and selected retailers. Geometrick is also very active on Soundcloud having already released three very nice mixes created by Swiss multimedia artist and electro funk edit master Cee-Roo.
In Finland there's a nice slightly similar pocket tee project going on called Nuotio. Don't forget to check out their stuff too on Facebook.

PLAUSIBLE MANNER
Jaakko Pallasvuo is an internationally recognized Finnish modern artist who held an exhibition at Titanik Gallery Turku last weekend. I missed the opening party on Friday, but still got to see the super works on Saturday. Mr Pallasvuo is also probably the first Finn to be featured on the endless source of inspiration for the digital generation - DIS Magazine.
The opening party (that I missed..) also featured a live from CUP - a very interesting conceptual music project from the people behind Shine2009.

shoppings
While in being in Finland I don't have much time to physically go shopping. I'll that maybe once or twice a year, first during summer sales and then before christmas. Above is some stuff I found on one evening last week and the things below are bought online / from Nice / from Berlin.
Photos of different things you buy or food you eat are rarely the most interesting thing at least for me so I don't expect anyone reading this to be too interested either. What's more interesting is the stories behind the products and dining experiences and that's what I'll be mainly focusing on also in the future.
Oh and those worried about all the negative effects of consumption, don't worry. I sold over twice this much old stuff one Sunday at the flea market. ;-)

American backpack specialist Jansport chose 21 skateboarding/streetwear retailers from around the world to design their version of a classic backpack. Interesting campaign and Beamhill from Finland is also participating. You can see all the designs at Jansport website and also check out Beamhill facebook page for a chance to win tickets to a Jansport x Beamhill party.

MENIKMATI
Today I was getting rid of some of my old gear at the flea market and from there I also found this vintage éS camp cap. Seeing the logo reminded me of the good times I had skateboarding in the late 90s and early 00s and also inspired to look back at the history of one of the most legendary brands in skateboarding. Which eventually inspired me to also go skateboarding today.
In production 1995-2011 - éS Accel is most likely the longest lasting footwear model in the history of skateboarding shoes. It was also my preferred choice of footwear for many pairs.
éS Menikmati by Fred Mortagne is a skateboarding video I can remember clearly. It is still one of the most nicely branded skateboarding videos of all time, especially the packaging was brilliant.
I'll remember éS as a straightforward brand that let it's skateboarders do the talking instead of too many graphic gimmicks. Even though the brand commercially is long gone that still echoes today and I actually might order a pair of éS Square One's (Accel with thinner sole) before they run out from eBay.
Earlier this year I also really randomly ended up drinking a few beers the guy who was starting the brand and it's legendary team already in 1995. Cool dude and apparently now doing even bigger things in the industry with sole tech.
More about éS Footwear (and also the evolution of skateboarding footwear in general) can be found at skateboardingstartswith.es - especially year 2000 is worth a look.

andel's Lodz
I've been to quite a few hotels around the world this year. However andel's Hotel Lodz really stood out from the rest. Built in a completely renovated old fabric mill the hotel is a really cool combination of old and new that has also won many architecture & design awards. And there's also a nice rooftop gym & pool. Highly recommended choice of hotel for anyone visiting Lodz.

CONTEST: Lee Douglas (DFA / NYC) at Nolla 30/06/2012
To celebrate this I decided to launch a modest competition where anyone can win three free tickets to the party. Here's how to enter:
1) Go to the brand new WWW.JASON.FI Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/JASONFI/400956496616963
2) Like the page on Facebook and you are entered for the competition.
At this point everyone is thinking how is that going to work. The list of people who like the page will be withdrawn from the 'New Likes' function of the Facebook Page admin panel. These will be added to a numbered list and three numbers will be drawn by Random.org on 29/06/2012. Then the three people who match these numbers will be contacted and announced on the page and their names (+2) will be added to the list at the door on 30/06/2012. The total of 9 tickets will be drawn.
Lee Douglas interview at Nolla website.
And don't forget the Nolla closing party 'Ravintola Nolla: The End' on 27/06/2012' already before the final weekend. Huge lineup of Helsinki nightlife legends some of which have been playing way before I've been old enough to get in to a bar.

DESIGN INSPIRATION: Zachodnia Street, Lodz.
I visited the third biggest city of Poland a while ago and at least to me it looked like an inspiring mix of old and new. A really big American style mall surrounded by abandoned houses and unfinished construction. Or in this case one of the finest museums & hotels of the city right next to a street filled with abandoned and painted on buildings.
