Allez Paris.

Visited some friends overseas in Paris a while ago. Fun times.

These days a good selfie takes at least one photographer, 30 second studio flash setup, a winning night at the office and a revolutionary "rapid-fire" shooting technique. photo by Taavetti Alin.

Ultimate Leisure Experience

Two good friends are moving moving to London to study fashion this fall. Their farewell party Cotton Candyflip Ultimate Leisure Experience takes place this Sunday in Helsinki starting 14:00. Good music, interesting decorations and an international atmospherecan be expected from this event. Usually I never go to Sunday parties, but this shall be an exception.

Click here for more info and event location. Free entry.

Dear Summer.

Now that the autumn is coming slowly and steadily with packed calendars it's nice to take a quick look back at the very core of being on a summer vacation - midsummer.

For more wakeboarding action check out Wakespot Helsinki or this epic watersports event epicly sponsored by Buster.

Belong to the World

When The Weeknd's talent in creating this unique 4am-post-rnb sound meets million dollar production budget you'd expect that the outcome would be boring. However the raw explicit tone with all the conceptual smoke & mirrors remain and all this new The Weeknd stuff is well worth a listen.

There's also an interesting (first ever) interview with Abel Tesfaye in Complex magazine online. And an epic directors cut video for the first new track Kiss Land (NSFW). And a cool collaboration with Kavinsky.

However (on other music) news the most interesting conceptual album right now in my opinion is 'Götterstrassse' by long time german techno producer Westbam. Minimal rhytms mixed to interesting list of guest vocals from Brian Molko and Richard Butler to Kanye West & Lil' Wayne. Listen to the full album on Spotify here. Or watch the video for track #1 'You Need the Drugs' on YouTube - even though I couldn't disagree more with the message of the song the gloomy sound is just brilliant.

Lost in a Moment

The second week of June was starting and looking at my calendar and the fact that I hadn't booked any travels anywhere it didn't seem likely that I was going to see Sonar / Off-Sonar at all this year. However when the week was slowly turning into a rainy weekend in Helsinki I did the unexpected and booked really last minute flights for a cool 36h trip to surprise my friends already enjoying sunshine and some of the world's finest electronic music events in Barcelona.

Our apartment (that I surprise-crashed in) at Carrer Banys Nous had a nice rooftop terrace.

One of the finest Off Sonar parties this year was Innervisions: Lost In a Moment at El Monasterio in the historical Montjuic area overlooking the Barcelona city center.

Of course it's tough to remember every track on every set, but Dixon dropping one of the literally most sought after tracks right now 'Agoria - Scala' was unforgettable in all its simplicity. (Check out a video of the track here)

"Thank you for an unique and breathtaking experience in Barcelona. Days like this give us the energy for the rest of the year." - Innervisions

Not Tired of England

Burberry London* / Burberry London Formal / Topman / ASOS Made in England

I've been constantly inspired by the way Burberry has been bringing new ideas to the often traditional world of fashion marketing - the (still ongoing) Art of the Trench campaign set a global standard for transmedia marketing of consumer goods in general back in 2009 and more recently I've been especially impressed by the Burberry Acoustic video series that featured new British artists through an interesting perspective as well as how many recent Burberry campaigns have featured some brilliant music hand picked by Christopher Bailey's creative team (e.g. Tom Odell in SS13 or Dirty Pretty Things in Chicago store opening).

When collecting material for a recent guest lecture I did about transmedia storytelling I also discovered some new brilliant angles to the Burberry brand.

Burberry Bespoke is a service that can be used to create a completely customized trench coat - offline or online. Another thing definitely worth checking out (at least for anyone interested in retail marketing) is the rather new Regent Street flagship store in London. Another global standard there.

* The coat featured on this post (Burberry London Mid Length Technical Cotton Trench Coat) is for sale / trade. It's size 54R and unfortunately ended up being a bit too big for me and therefore has been worn only 3-4 times. I could switch to similar style in 52 or even 50. Leave a comment or send e-mail.

Fred Perry x Izzue

British classic Fred Perry and Izzue from Hong Kong are both known for solid collaborations so it's no surprise this project turned out amazing. I actually emailed Izzue about buying this stuff when the first photos were released. Back then they didn't know whether it would be sold in Europe so I was happy to find out that Fred Perry now has a limited amount in their online store.

A Good Listen.

Been listening to a lot of old and new music lately. Here's five completely different tracks that I like right now.

Kasper Bjørke & The Pierces - Doesn't Matter (Trentemøller remix)

Satellite Stories - Costa Del Sol '94. The whole Phrases to Break the Ice album is good.

Sixto Rodriguez - Climb Up on My Music. A Really interesting artist and an interesting story from the streets of Detroit.

Disclosure ft. AlunaGeorge - White Noise. Heard this first time while running & listening to yet another Annie Mac Show.

Robosonic - The Edge. If you like this - also check out Robosonic - Worst Love.

Regarding clubs and other places where to hear new music - Lil'Tony's new warehouse club Ääniwalli has been a good place to go lately. Been there twice and both times it was good. No matter what people say I don't think it's very underground, but why should it be. It's still a very interesting venue that focuses on the core of the electronic music experience.

Hello Spring.

SSUR Beanie / Vuarnet / A Bathing Ape Gore Windstopper hoodie / Barbour / Weekday / Clarks Wallabees

It's been a hectic, but very interesting winter. Now sun is shining again and I finally might have some time to post things.

This weekend I was asked to participate in the traditional We Got Beef Spring Market and it was nice to do some wardrobe spring cleaning. Sold plenty of stuff, but also bought something. This BAPE Gore Windstopper hoodie that I got from a friend I was sharing a table with is a piece of clothing I'm really stoked about. Even though there's no compass on the sleeve it's a technically a perfect hoodie for the terraces.

Also got this pair of Converse and yet another Marimekko canvas bag. The shoes look a bit too "tumblr-fresh" right now, but maybe they'll become a good pair once worn a bit more - the summer will tell.
